Here is an audio recording of G.K. Chesterton’s 1915 poem, Lepanto

Today is the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary according to both the old and new calendar of the Roman Catholic Church.  On this date in history, 1571, Don John of Austria led the Holy League fleet of ships to victory against the Ottoman Turks, vastly superior in number and in military momentum.  Don John’s victory staved off further Muslim incursion into the Mediterranean, quite possibly to the preservation of Western Europe and Christendom.
