Who are we?

Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874-1936) was a journalist, literary and social critic, theologian, historian, philosopher, poet, novelist and all-round bon vivant.

The Albany Chesterton Society is dedicated to reading, understanding, sharing and spreading Chesterton’s sharp — but always cheerful! — wit & common sense in NY’s Capital Region.

We are enthusiasts, admirers, dabblers, old hats and the newly curious of all walks of life, who subscribe to the most Chestertonian of notions that

“there are no words to express the abyss between isolation and having one ally. It may be conceded to the mathematician that four is twice two. But two is not twice one; two is two thousand times one.”  – GKC

And so our society was launched on Thursday, March 1st, 2012, at Holmes & Watson Pub in Troy.  We usually meet the first Thursday of every month at a local watering hole for a pint, a bite and a rollicking discussion of Chesterton’s works.
